When a customer goes out in search of a new vehicle, there are a few key points that might be top of mind. What kind of vehicle will meet my needs? What can I afford or am I willing to spend? Power and Associates has the answer to at least one of these questions, quite possibly the most important one. As an automotive industry authority on what makes a superior vehicle, J.D. Every year, the Super Bowl is one of the most watched events on television. Depending upon the two teams competing, the viewership may be higher or lower, but no matter what, many viewers tune into the Super Bowl for one reason, and one reason only: the commercials. This year, the Super Bowl is being hosted in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, so you can imagine that this is one of the largest advertising opportunities for one of the world’s leading luxury automakers. Mercedes-Benz has decided to partake in the ritual commercial festivities during the Super Bowl, marking just the second time that they have ever participated in this most glorious of television advertising events.
The anticipation coming from the Mercedes camp is centered on the release of the newest class of Mercedes models in the U.S., the CLA-Class. This commercial is the coming-out party for the new, more affordable four-door coupe, one that Mercedes is hoping can connect with those from a younger generation. The 60-second spot targets those in their 30s who may not be able to own a higher-end luxury vehicle just yet, but a much more reasonably priced CLA-Class coupe will give them a viable option. The current average age for a Mercedes owner is 52.
Does the excitement surrounding Mercedes-Benz ever stop? You wouldn’t think so, with the constant stream of new vehicles, debuts of new concepts, new technologies, all of which are new, innovative, creative, and awesome. It’s as if the company should just change its name to “Mercedes New.” Am I actually recommending that? No, I think it would probably be extremely damaging to the brand. However, the amount of times that the word new can be expressed in reference to Mercedes is seemingly unlimited. They have recently announced that by the year 2020, they will release 11 brand-new models.
With 11 new models, that will put the count of Mercedes models at 30! For those of you playing at home, that means that they already have 19 models, but adding another 11 in the coming eight years is a mighty feat. If there is any company that could do it, it would be Mercedes-Benz. Their bold statement means they must create and design 11 new vehicles, all while continuing to enhance and redesign their current lineup.
Not one to let an important event go by unnoticed, Mercedes-Benz is celebrating the 45-year anniversary of the AMG series of high-performance vehicles with the release of some new, highly-sought after models. The latest from this exclusive group of vehicles comes for those Mercedes fans who want a piece of Mercedes racing history. The SLS AMG GT3 “45th Anniversary” edition is one of the most elite vehicles of this storied series to be built. Hand-built and heaven-sent, only five (no, that is not a typo) of these beautiful vehicles will be built to celebrate this historic anniversary.
Immediately, the most noticeable aspect of this rarest of rare Mercedes racing vehicles is the designo magno graphite matte paint finish, because grey just isn’t a very exciting sounding color. Swathing the entire exterior, this unique color even extends onto the lightweight alloy wheels and the steel roll cage that frames the interior. Oozing with style and class, this race car, which is not anywhere near street legal, will be the envy of many a Mercedes collector.
Throughout the history of the automobile, there have been changes, manipulations, and alterations that have moved vehicles from one era into the next. The Veteran era began with the introduction of the first automobile from Karl Benz in 1888. The Brass era, appropriately named for the wide use of brass in vehicles, preceded World War I. The Vintage era ran from the end of WWI through 1929, which began the Pre-WWII era. Fully closed bodies began to take shape during these eras, as well as front-mounted engines. The Post-WWII era began, believe it or not, after WWII, followed by the Modern era, which is defined as the 25 years preceding today’s vehicles.
Throughout all of these eras, the vehicle went from a novelty to a necessity, from simplicity to complexity, and it continues to move forward into the future. Mercedes-Benz, the name that started it all in 1888, may well define the next age in the automobile history books, and it may start with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive.
With so much emphasis placed on alternative energy and fuel sources throughout the automotive industry, more and more vehicles are being designed with engines that define a new phase for the automobile. Mercedes has begun to play its hand, releasing vehicles that run on natural gas, such as the B200 Natural Gas Drive, as well as those that run using electric motors. As the next step in Mercedes electric progression, the SLS AMG Electric Drive will be the fastest and most powerful electric car on the market upon its release.
